Electromyography
The specialist will ask you to get electromyography to confirm the diagnosis of a muscle, motor neuron or peripheral nerve problem.
For example, it’s usually requested to evaluate carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculopathies, mono- and polyneuropathies, traumatic peripheral nerve injuries, muscle fiber diseases, and motor neuron diseases, among others.
The study, which is performed by a physiatrist, consists of two parts: evaluating the sensory and motor nerves through nerve conduction techniques and exploring the muscle’s electrical activity.
No medication is given during the procedure.
It requires making an appointment.
This service is allowed for patients with a prepaid health and medicine policy and private patients.
